Precious Moments

Precious moments fly away
Never to return again
In its wake lie wasted lives
Filled with deep regret and shame

So many moments wasted
As men strive for earthly gain
Like water running through our fingers
Disappearing down the drain

We can never more relive them
Can’t rewind the hands of time
We cannot change our yesterdays
We can’t rewrite one line

Oh that we could capture time
And lock it in a vacuum
Until we learn to treat it
As a rare and precious gem

Yet may experience teach us
That although we cannot change
The past, there’s still the present
To be lived and well arranged

If I Could See What Lies Ahead

If I could see what lies ahead
Would it be good for me
Would I be satisfied, dear Lord
To know my destiny

Or would I cringe away from it
And rather want to die
Would I just shrug my shoulders, Lord
Or would I want to cry

As long as You are with me, Lord
I know I need not fear
For You’ll protect and guide me, Lord
And dry my every tear

Policemen

Thankless jobs for little pay
Their lives in danger every day
They strive to curb the needless crime
Yet they’re perpetually maligned

They’re stalked and ambushed by vile men
Who prey upon the innocents
And while it’s true some are corrupt
They’re not the ones who are snuffed out

Without them crime would escalate
Till all that’s left is fear and hate
A lawless country cannot stand
But will become a desolate land

People Use Your Name so Freely

People use Your name so freely
Without reverential fear
Take Your name in vain, blaspheme You
Joke about You, mock and jeer

Make Your holy name a by-word
And in films You’re defamed
They spread blatant lies about You
Yet they never feel ashamed

They don’t know a thing about You
Any concepts in their mind
Are the products of their making
For they’re spiritually blind

What will they do, what will they answer
On that great and dreadful day
When the judgment books are opened
And their sins are on display

Not Wanted

They’ve kicked You out of governments
They’ve kicked You out of schools
And even out of countries
Where Islamic leaders rule

They’ve kicked You out of families
In the work place, You’re taboo
And blasphemy’s the only way
These people speak of You

Most schools deny You entrance
Evolution is their truth
And no-one understands
When scholars learn to be uncouth

Millions are the victims
Of abortion in this day
And assisted suicides
Are now the legal way

And yet when things go wrong
They’re quick to say: Where was God then
Then they become indignant
And give You all the blame

When will man learn to fear You
And revere Your holy Name
They want to take, but never give
And yet they have no shame

He is Jehovah Jireh

He is Jehovah Jireh
The Lord is my Provider
The Living Bread and Water
That is bubbling in me

He is my Creator
He’s Elohim, my Maker
El Roi, God who sees
And He watches over me

Lion of the tribe of Judah
The Lord God is the Victor
The Lord is El Shaddai
He’s my All Sufficiency

El Olam, God everlasting
He’s the One who makes my heart sing
Yahweh Shalom, the Lord is Peace
And His peace resides in me

He’s the Fairest of Ten Thousand
He’s the lovely Rose of Sharon
He’s the Saviour of my soul
Who took my place on Calvary’s tree

He’s Adonai, my Lord and Master
He’s my Eternal Father
He’s my Refuge and my Fortress
He’s the One who set me free

Free Indeed

I watched a dove in flight one day
And envied his white wings
Which carried Him so high
And wished that I could fly like him

You are so free, I thought aloud
I cannot leave the ground
And then I heard a sweet Voice say
But he is still earth bound

Whom I’ve set free, is free indeed
He’s free forevermore
You never need be bound again
By things which bound before

He is Jehovah Jireh
The Lord is my Provider
The Living Bread and Water
That is bubbling in me

He is my Creator
He’s Elohim, my Maker
He’s El Roi, God who sees

An Ostrich

An ostrich is quite stupid
When’re she wants to hide
She’ll make a hole within the sand
And place her head inside

She thinks no-one can see her
For she can’t see the Light
And though she is exposed to all
She thinks she’s out of sight

Sometimes you’re like the ostrich
Your head beneath the sand
Because your thoughts are darkness
The Light you cannot stand

But, like the stupid ostrich
You’re exposed by Heaven’s Light
The only one fooled is yourself
Oh, what a silly sight

No Pen Could Write

No pen could write, nor script reveal
The vastness of this love I feel
No ocean could surpass its depth
Nor galaxies exceed its breadth

The wonder of a starry night
Compares not with the pure delight
Of being in my Love’s embrace
For He has saved me by His grace

No song of love could ever express
The wonder of His holiness
Nor artist paint the beauty of
My loving Saviour’s matchless love
