She Touched the Hem of Jesus

She broke so many laws the day
That Jesus passed her way
Twelve years her menstruation
Had kept her locked away

Twelve years she stayed in bondage
As she bled from day to day
Not allowed to be in public
Isolated every way

She could not brush against, nor touch men
For they would be defiled
She knew to break the law meant death
But she was dead inside

Then hope sprang forth when Jesus came
That she could live again
Free from the curse that plagued her life
She’d never be the same

So desperately she faced the crowd
Hope stronger than her fear
And pushed through so that she could touch
The Lord as He drew near

Then reaching out, she touch the hem
Of His tallit by faith
Immediately her bleeding stopped
As she was healed by grace

Who touched me? Jesus said aloud
As He felt some power deplete
And trembling in great fear she came
And fell at Jesus feet

And as she told Him everything
And bared her very soul
He answered: Daughter, go in peace
Your faith has made you whole

We’re not healed by our good works
What Jesus seeks is faith
Through faith our sins will fall away
As we walk in His grace

Abraham

In theophany form the Most High came
To Mamre to speak to Abraham
The Lord said to him a son would be born
In the tent behind them, Sarah laughed in scorn

At ninety years old, Sarah bore the dear son
Who was promised by the eternal One
They named the child Isaac, he grew and was weaned
God made a request which terrible seemed

God wanted an offering, but not a lamb
Sacrifice Isaac, He told Abraham
Though Abraham loved Isaac, he loved God more
And of God’s promise Abraham was sure

Abraham went to the land of Moriah
And Isaac carried the wood for the fire
On the mountain they built an altar and then
Isaac lay on the altar in place of a lamb

When God saw Abraham lift up the knife
God told Abraham to spare Isaac’s life
In the thickets behind them was caught a ram
God’s provided burnt offering for Abraham

As Abraham trusted when put to the test
That through Isaac, his seed would be countless and blessed
Trust God in the midst of the storm and you’ll see
The glory of God and have victory
