Love’s Victory
Jesus came from Heaven to set the captives free
The magi came to worship in deep humility
Even as a baby, he escaped satanic snare
And Rama mourned her babies for not one did Satan spare
Jesus read Isaiah’s prophesy and said it was fulfilled
Instead of joy at this great truth, deep hatred was instilled
Men picked up stones to stone Him, but He passed right through the throng
They rejected and accused Him though He had done no wrong
The Pharisees and Sadducees inspired by hellish needs
Sat plotting to destroy Christ as to hide their evil deeds
He stumbled, bloodied, weakened, ‘neath the cross He had to bear
As Hell’s armies watched in triumph and the world just did not care
The Jerusalem thorns that crowned Him, embedded in His skull
Were a mockery of His calling and were a gift from Hell
As the nails tore through His body when they nailed Him to the tree
Satan’s army celebrated their apparent victory
When the Father turned His eyes away from His beloved Son
The hordes of Hell were certain that the victory was won
Over eager, Satan pulled Him into the depths of Hell
Intent on keeping captive the One God loved so well
Unknowingly his evil fulfilled God’s perfect plan
Of offering once and for all God’s sacrificial Lamb
Jesus took the keys from Satan that the devil took from man
And the devil lost dominion as Jesus rose again
Satan trembled in frustration and his fury knew no end
Millions martyred through the ages because they would not bend
Wars and famines and diseases; genocide and countless more
Are results of Satan’s fury and his strategy of war
The devil’s time is growing shorter and his kingdom’s going to fall
God will judge him, his disciples and his army and one and all
Then the righteous in Christ Jesus, loved so unconditionally
Will live within a sinless world with Christ eternally
