I thank You, kind Father
That there is a mercy seat
For us in Heaven above
An altar of sacrifice
Sprinkled with blood
A token of mercy and love
A sacrifice offered
Without any blemish
To cleanse Your people from sin
So perfect He bleaches
And not only covers
The filth and corruption within
A precious Lamb slain
From the world’s foundation
His wondrous Name’s Lord Jesus Christ
A sacrifice wounded to death
For our pardon
And risen to give us new life
Bloodied and bruised
Hacked and terribly beaten
So gracious Your love for the world
That Your only Son
You placed on the altar
That by Him our cups may be filled
I thank You Kind Father
That there is a High Priest
To make intercession for men
Who pleads our forgiveness
For our great transgression
Who offered Himself for our sin
May we never count
The blood of the Covenant
As an unholy thing
Nor trample the blood
Of Your Son underfoot
Having been sanctified once by Him
But, Lord, be our strength
Our guide and our comfort
Lead us to Your golden shore
Give us Living Waters
That we may drink freely
And dwell in us for evermore
