There walks a man so wonderful
So merciful and good
He talks about the Father
Gives five thousand people food
He gives sight to the blind man
The dumb He makes to talk
He heals the dying lepers
He lets the crippled walk
He loves the little children
He holds them tenderly
He tells them of the Scriptures
As they sit upon His knee
He casts out countless demons
He’s even raised the dead
But now He walks to Calvary
For He’ll die in our stead
His love is so immense that He
Will give His precious life
To save this wretched sinful world
He’ll be the sacrifice
His back is torn and bleeding
His mouth is parched and dry
He falls beneath the heavy cross
But utters not one cry
How can they let Him suffer so
And mock and jeer at Him
They don’t realize that His torment
Will save them from their sin
He’s had no sleep, nor food, nor drink
He’s weak, His pain is great
They’ve tortured Him in jealousy
They feel such vicious hate
The soldiers drive a nail into each hand
And through His feet
They lift the cross, His body jars
His followers all weep
Above His head a scroll is placed
The words thereon are clear
THE KING OF THE JEWS, it reads
‘Was placed there as a jeer
The words are true, but they don’t know
That He’s the King of all
He asks for water, but they give Him
Vinegar and gall
Come down from the cross
If You’re the Son of God, they shout
He prays, then bows His head and dies
And yet the soldiers doubt
They pierce His side and blood and water
Flow out of that wound
He cannot hang much longer
For twill be the Sabbath soon
The Earth grows dark and trembles
Rocks roll down the mountain side
Even nature mourns because
The Lord was crucified
