The Pharisees Brought a Woman

The Pharisees brought a woman
Caught in an adulterous act
And threw her at Your feet
To test the way that You’d react

The law said they should stone her
“He who has no sin” You said
“From the eldest to the youngest
Cast the first stone!” They all fled

They all would if they just could
But all of them had sinned
My Lord, You could, but never would
You gave her grace unearned

A lady of the night approached
As You prepared to eat
She washed Your feet with tears
And with her hair she dried Your feet

Expensive oil she poured in love
Upon Your feet that day
Repentant of her many sins
Her sins You washed away

Lazareth was dead four days
Within the tomb he lay
You shouted, “Lazareth Come forth!”
And he arose that day

You saw a funeral taking place
A widow’s only son
You raised him from his sleep of death
And awe gripped everyone

A little girl took ill and died
Her parents were distraught
You took her by the hand and said, Arise
And she awoke

You did so many signs and wonders
Too numerous to write
Blind eyes could see, deaf ears could hear
And demons took to flight

Lord of Heaven, Earth and skies
Of sea and space and time
Whom men and angels worship
You alone are God divine
